CS’ Acrovyn Sheet in a Black Concrete finish was chosen for its durability and aesthetic appeal. Because the patterned film is thermally bonded to the sheet backing during extrusion, the finish won’t wear off or delaminate over time.
The installation involved 22 sheets of 2mm thick Acrovyn, applied to a height of 1.5 metres in circulation areas and floor-to-ceiling in storage alcoves. The part-height installations were finished with Acrovyn Edge Trim in a complementary dark grey colour, for a clean and professional result.
Additionally, Acrovyn Plinth in a light grey colour was used at skirting level in areas where skirting boards were absent. The use of colour-matched mastic for vertical joints and precise trimming by the installation team from Goss Environmental Coatings Ltd ensured that the wall protection blended seamlessly with the overall design.

An important aspect of the installation was the alignment of the decorative pattern on the sheets to achieve visual uniformity. Where necessary, the sheets were thermoformed to fit around external corners, providing a durable finish. Special consideration was given to the slope of the stairs to minimise wastage, with the protective sheets installed to a predefined strike line, avoiding the need to mitre into the treads. Due to precise planning and cutting by the installers, there were no significant offcuts, ensuring material efficiency.

The project was executed efficiently, with the products shipped and installed within five and a half weeks from the order. This swift turnaround was essential to minimising disruption to the facility’s operations and completing the refurbishment on schedule.
